Debian works on this machine, and 2.6 seems to work more or less but not yet stable (probably a cache flush issue).
NEWS (or should I call it BLOG?
)
- 2009-02-24 InstallDebianHowTo . That's right. I hope somebody fills that topic. I will just upload some config files
- 2008-12-27 Fed up. That's right. I am just plain fed up with the normal "distribution" that comes with it. Don't take me wrong. The distribution makers have done a lot of work to get it to work. But in the end they missed the point by going for a distro from scratch, and it ends up buggy hackish and more things like that. For those that have installed a real distribution on the second nandflash, I've change some minor things in the source so that while pressing F3 during kernelboot, it will boot from /dev/mtdblock5 instead of /dev/mtdblock4 .
- 2008-12-27 projects.kwaak.net is sponsored by http://www.handheld-linux.com/ and http://www.kernelconcepts.de/ in the form of the Letux 400. The hardware has built-in wifi, and comes with a larger powersupply that can also power a 2.5" USB harddisk while charging. The sponsoring is done to let me continue with the 2.6 kernel port.
- 2008-12-16 My kernel seemed to disable usbpower to the internal wifi card. This is a "bug" in the ingenic "sdk", not the skytone one. "Fixed" it. New image available real soon now.
- 2008-10-15 Decided to start the 2.6 kernel port
- 2008-10-14 KernelOfTheWeek
- 2008-09-30 Updated the backlight control page with a working image. It works pretty good. I don't need sunglasses anymore.
- 2008-09-26 Finally found the register. Due to an miscalculation I didn't find it earlier. The new kernel will be able to do backlight control soon.
- 2008-09-23 Time is not on my side. I have a lot of things to do. One of them is phasing out old servers at home. This means I made some programs that parses a multipartjpeg stream of my network camera that's directed at the power companies power meter to get some idea of my power usage at home. It really isn't funny:
. Anyway: On another track I wanted to upgrade to the skytone latest kernel but somehow that kernel does not support working backlight control, although the code is 100% there. I therefore made some kernel module to try to understand the difference in I/O initialisation between the default kernel and the new kernel.
- 2008-09-11 Skytone had updated their source code, all of them are available now, look here.
- How to make Kernel (more on that in CompilingAKernel).
- unzip celinux-040503.tar.bz2 & celinux-skytone-update-kernel-0902.tar.bz2
- patch unzipped file from celinux-skytone-update-kernel-0902.tar.bz2 into celinux-040503
- make menuconfig
- make dep
- make uImage (Kernel file)
- 2008-09-10 support@skytone.net.cn is available now, in case you have any question, please send mail to this mailbox, Skytone enginner will try to help you to solve it.
- 2008-08-24 Just got the HuaweiModem working with the trendtac. So I've got native umts, and it's pretty fast.
- 2008-08-22 Just did an update, which confirmed that the trendtac epc 700 is a skytone alpha 400. That's why it's so slow to update, the updates come from Republic of China (Taiwan). Anyway: look here
- 2008-08-21 Server outage: Heh, sorry... I just discovered my server rebooted and did not start all jails.
- 2008-08-20 I've sent a new request to trendtac to request for the real kernel source code.
- On the trendtac site there seems to be source code. This is great, since I need to patch the usb drivers. A transcript can hopefully be found at CompilingAKernel.
